I have this place near my house called Cops Closet. They have sales all the time for the combat boots the SWAT guys wear. They cost 15 bucks. Not sure if you have one around you.

    The last time I looked...

The only 8" boots I'm seeing are a combination of leather and canvas/nylon, and I'd really prefer leather. I just think they look cooler.

    Questions:

    1) Am I wrong about the boots? Should I even be worried about hose?

    2) Does anyone know of a website with black leather 8" boots? Google isn't as helpful as I might like.
For a really good selection of Combat Boots, check out US Cavalry... Maybe they've gone down-hill in the last 15 years; but, the last time I checked most of their catalog was devoted to combat boots of every description: I can't imagine your not finding something to fit the bill from them.

    Good Luck!

Have a look here to see if anything fits the bill for you:

Also check Doc Martens USA store:

For reference, when I wear a higher boot I do not worry about going to the knee with hose. Usually just scrunch the hose at the top of the boot or wear appropriate socks for the boot height.

I still wear a pair of Corcoran Original Jump Boots I bought in...wow, was it that long ago? ... 1981.

    Man, I'm gettin' old.

Buff 'em up with Lincoln Black Wax...that smell really takes me back.

I personally like the 5.11 Tactical boots. I bought a pair of zippered ones to wear for EMS calls, and forgot that they were only for EMS............I wear them all the time. Lightweight and comfortable. A little pricey, but once you wear them you won't mind the cost.

    Corcoran Jump Boots

Yeah for corcoran! I've still got (and even occasionally wear) the only pair I ever bought... 1977, I was stationed at Andrews AFB, MD, and bought them at the Cameron Station, VA PX... Nearly $100 then.

Sadly, they just don't seem to be what they were then... I did hear that they got bought by another boot company, though.
