Both Michael Jacksons are dead

http://www.ucityphila.org/news/release/222
While browsing obits for Michael Jackson (entertainer) I discovered that Michael Jackson (writer - aka the Beer Hunter) had died nearly two years ago. Now I am really sad.
He was the father of the micro-brewery movement, and helped raise the standards for beer worldwide. He was particularly keen on Scottish beer and Scotch.
Remember to tip a glass to Michael Jackson (whichever one you prefer)

Thank goodness! A decent sort with that name--enough so to override the discomfort with which I am troubled thinking about the other one.
/facetious comment
I was in a supplier's storefront earlier today, and they had some talk radio nitwit on, harping about how Michael Jackson the singer was a child molester. At least two callers "called out" the talk show host on this, noting that the charges never led to a guilty verdict.
My thoughts, for what they are worth: the talk-show host was intentionally riling up his audience. The validity (or lack of same) of the accusations was probably all but irrelevant to him.
None of which excuses child molestation.
That charge did not change whether I listened to Michael Jackson's music--I didn't anyway. I was never a big fan of the singer MJ, never bought any of his records. As long as nobody was harmed (such as would clearly be the case in the event of child molestation), what he did in private was his own business--bizarre business, to be sure (compare the images of MJ to Joan Crawford for a scare), but no business of mine.
Regardless of the acts that may or may not have substantiated the molestation charges, he was a talented performer. Many will miss him (but not I).
Lovin' the breeze 'tween m'knees!

I had intended this thread to celebrate the life of a man who had brought so much joy into my life, Michael Jackson (the Beer Hunter), rather than slam the other one. However, I will share the thought that went thru my head when I heard Michael Jackson (the entertainer) had died at 50: "Karma is a b!+@h."
(yes, I know that technically Karma is supposed to influence your next life, but for some people it works faster)

That is a shame about Michael Jackson the beer and Scotch critic. I have enjoyed a number of his books. Reading his opinions on various scotches is always informative even when i don't completely agree with him.

In the one case that is sad to hear. I read some of his beer related stories. On the other case no comment as it has already seen me slapped on the wrist and sent to the corner for a time out.

Charlie Mc. and bigdad1, do you know each other? There is an amazing resemblance, and not just in avatars.

I somehow missed the death of Michael "Beer Hunter" Jackson, probably because I was in Okinawa at the time. The man was a true enthusiast and his Malt Whisky guide (1st Edition) helped me on the way to a greater appreciation of the water of life.
"O, why the deuce should I repine, and be an ill foreboder?
I'm twenty-three, and five feet nine, I'll go and be a sodger!

Gentlemen: De mortuis nil nisi bonum dicendum est.
If you're not up on your Latin, let me explain it. It's not nice to speak ill of the dead. (Especially when it has happened so recently and there are those who are saddened at the loss of EITHER of these men).
One thread has already been locked down for general insensitivity, would you care to make the score 2 for 2?
