Oh NO!!! Billy Mays is Dead

After the loss of "Moon Walk" Michael Jackson, now the world has to come to grips with the sudden death of Pitchman Par Excellence Billy Mays. Sometimes life is just too sad.
I think I'll go do my laundry to try and get over it.

As a loud, obnoxious pitch man I did like Billy Mays. A minor celebrity in his own right and much classier than Vince the Sham-Wow guy.

Yeah, probably sell St. Peter a few bottles of Oxyclean on the way in, and probably head to the other place to sell stuff there too.

My condolences to his family. It strikes me as odd though all these jokes about someone who has recently passed away, perhaps it's a coping mechanism. I find it sad that people feel the need to try to make fun of someone who was honestly successful in his chosen profession. It certainly shows more about the person making the comment than the intended target.

Grief comes out in many ways and fashions. I had not been offended by it and was really allowing to pass me by. The mention of the Heaven/Otherplace selling ability just addresses his ability to be successful at what he did and it is a complement to him. Instead of trying to find fault with other remarks, I think now is the time for people to be dealing with the pain and grief that his family is directly having and we are remotely having. As long as it is not breaking a forum rules, such that causes the involvement of the Mods, we need to be less 'thin-skinned' about these remarks.

I think it could be the fact that people forget that these TV personalities are also people too, they seem to be a fictional character in our minds. Just my 2 cents.

Though I agree, some of these people do deserve respect, they deserve no more grieving then when a relative dies, even in the absence of the media.
