I'm sorry to hear about Mr Mays. The 'reality' show Pitchmen showed him to be a hard-working, honest, down-to-earth talented guy who did his best to help his clients, often entrepreneurs trying to establish their own businesses, to succeed.

His death is certainly untimely... I was just watching an episode of Pitchmen, this morning.. I have always liked his style.. he is said to gain his skill, hawking in Atlantic City, on the boardwalk. His likeable personality made him a great pitchman...
My condolences to his family.. he will be missed by so many.. he was a great Husband and Father.. and he had a good heart... they say a man's wealth is measured by the way his name comes off peoples lips.. William Mays was a very wealthy man...

Read he was on the plane that had its nose gear collapse on landing and got hit on the head from stuff falling out of the over head bins.
This is starting to sound like the Natasha Richardson situation.

It certainly shows more about the person making the comment than the intended target.
Such 'jokes' when touting the skills of the deceased is but the first step to legends, like Casey Jones or Paul Bunyon, Johnny Appleseed, etc.
It even said in part of the story today that he gave oxyclean as wedding favors.

I had to look that one up, I had forgot about that one.
She died like Sony Bono, he died more like some bizarre real world cartoon accident.

of course
I hope everyone will laugh at my funeral, and make fun out of my crazy antics. So how ironic we consider it disrespectful for someone else. Hmm, just another side of things...

Of course they all deserve respect, and it is always sad. "Ask not for whom the bell tolls..."
Just as a point of fact, after five years on the fire department crisis wagons rolling on all codes and having to be the one to break the news to the family that someone they love has died or been killed, a common grief reaction is laughter...even joking. It doesn't happen every time, but it happens often. Sadly, its usually an embarrassment to the person so afflicted...just happens.
Different here for sure. We're not close family.

Yes, and they'll be celebrating the fun, happy aspects of you and your life--not making fun of you. There's a difference.

Exactly my point, and thank you Ron for what you said. The real difference as I see it and correct me if I'm wrong but those who have posted on this thread did not know the man.

Maybe sorta like a ship. Crew may cuss her, but God help anyone else who does.
