I bought a kilt at the Capital District Scottish Games in Altamont NY about 2 years ago.

Unfortunately, I have NO idea what the name of the company was and the tag just says "Scottish Highland Kilt."

It is a P/V, with a single leather strap closure on each side, and the tartan is "Scottish Freedom."

The reasons I want like, 10 more of them are as follows:
1. The PV is a much heavier weight than I have ever seen before
2. I have beaten the thing senseless, and it still looks great
3. It looks amazing- the fit and swing are very close to a much more expensive kilt
4. It was only about $130

So yeah... I will post a picture as soon as I am able, and maybe someone can identify it.

The only things I remember about the company are that they were from MA (I think) and that they sold about a million tasty treats in addition to the clothing. Also, they were the only vendor selling off the rack kilts that year.

Well, technically, it's doubtful that it's real p/v. Only a few vendors in this country use that material. So it's most likely acrylic. Frugal Corner offers a heavier weight acrylic, so you might want to check their site.

Just be aware, though my own experience with them was first rate, many others have complained about huge problems with their orders. Plus, they just moved to another part of the country, so there's no telling how established they are at the new location.

Has anyone else had experience with these kilts? I (clearly) really really really love mine.

The only complaint that I have is that I'm short and the kilt is a 24. I'm going to have to pay more to have it shortened.

I wonder what tartan I should get next....

Make sure you're wearing it high enough, that may be why it's too long.

I have a couple of those "PV" kilts that I bought from Brad at Kilted Nation.

First, Brad is a great guys with excellent service.

Second, he has a seamstress he contracts jobs like hemming the kilt. There is a charge. Just ask him about it.

Third, these kilts are a PV blended with acetate to get the weight up to the 16 oz they advertise. My 2 kilts of this type are damn near indestructible...unless near a heat source. Be careful pressing them as a hot iron will melt the material. Ask how I know this... <sigh>

Lady M- I'm only 5'7", so the 24 is a bit too long, about 2 inches. If I pull it up high enough, it is well above my belly-button, and looks a little bit silly.

Might I suggest you consider a USA Kilts semi-trad for your next kilt? It can be built more to your specs and you won't have to worry about hemming it later. True PV, excellent service, and you'll know the actual source of the kilt.
