I still love reactions like this!
So I was coming home from the grocery store today, and as I was headed in the gate of my apartment complex I heard a voice behind me shout "YES!! IT'S A KILT!!!" I was a bit startled and turned in time to see a hand extended out of the window of a car that had just passed giving me a thumbs up.
I've been kilted for eight years now, and positive reactions from strangers like this make my day. Kind of funny that, since negatives have an effect on me of a few minutes at best the majority of the time. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's great that it is this way and not the other way around, but kind of weird.

It's always nice to get "the good yell" from the car window.

Good for you! I know that feeling. A young male teacher saw me in my UK last week and looked a bit shocked at first. Then he said, "Dude, are you rockin' a kilt?' I grinned and said, "Yep, enjoying my freedom." Gave him a business card for UK and we spent a few minutes talking about XMTS. Another conversion.

congrats on the cat call
I wouldn't mind getting that kind of reaction for my clothing either!

I know just what you're talking about... the negatives (rare) have a short shelf life, but the nice encounters linger.
Wednesday I was kilted at work and went to our corner cafe for some "reinforcement" in the morning. I was the first customer, and when the second walked in she stopped in her tracks then said, "Awesome. You made my day!" She went on to say how much she loved kilts and wondered why more men didn't wear them. Never fails to bring a smile!
:ootd:

Good for you! There's something so uplifting about the compliment that just sincerely explodes from someone!

I had an odd negative reaction to my kilting yesterday, that made me feel good. I spent the morning cutting up the remains of a (termite-ridden) deck I removed from my back yard -- with such messy work, I was in an old pair of cargo shorts so as to not mess up a kilt. I then had to pop over to the college I teach at to grab a file of my computer there. I walked to the admin. building to check my mail and one of my students stopped me and said "Wow Chris, I almost didn't recognize you without your kilt? Is something wrong?" I assured him that there was no problem.
His statement actually made my day -- I think today will be kilted.
I wish I had something funny or profound to put in a signature.

It sounds like when when someone tells you that you make their day, it also makes your day -certainly a win-win situation.
