[QUOTE=JSFMACLJR;756910]I could never recommend black hose--unless it was to wear instead of white if no other colour was available!
I do agree with you, but, if you are wearing a black shirt, or, a black jacket, and there is black in the tartan....?
There is so much red in my tartan I don't think I could do red hose, I wanted to do red and green dicing, then I realized I would look like a Christmass tree!
I'll take suggestions though cause I am putting aside money to get some diced and Argyll hose!

What about the "triced" (3 colour) hose from Skye Highland Outfitters. I have just discovered them thanks to this forum. Red and green could be broken up with another colour perhaps.

I own 4 pairs of Skye Highland Outfitters Tartan Hose and the quality is topnotch. You won't be disappointed.

McMurdo - I didn't realize that a kilt belt is worn with a Montrose. Is that because the buckle is visible even with the jacket buttoned?

I would think that would be it, I wear a kilt belt with a square buckle because that is what is correct with the Montrose, mine has belt loops all the way around and that is how I've always seen them.

Just to clarify that the Montrose doublet is buttoned, and then the belt is put on over the doublet, right Glen?
