One might also imagine some kind of metal detail for the tassles that covers the aglets on ghillie brogue laces... almost like small versions of the "bells" that hold sporran tassles.

I would think that metal tips would, due to their weight and the effect of gravity, tend to tug on the knot, with the result that one would be constantly having to re-tie one's shoes.

it could depend what knot you may use though as there is various styles of knot that may cope with added weight ,
even when i look back on that site it still amazing me the choice of styles available when you think most folk may use one or two lacing types at most
