You can purchase a small eyelet starter kit with the setter included for only a few dollars at the fabric store. Make sure you make the starter hole as small as you can get the raw eyelet into so it doesn't pull out later; I had that problem on a sporran I made.

did the double d rings just not hold well or what???
And what are you using now for buckles?? are you going the eyelet route and using a normal small buckle??
