EMS kilt suggestion

I have been looking at kilts online and noticed that the Utilikilt has cargo pockets that look similar to the ones on my uniform pant for work. What say we make them (not calling for a BRAND endorsement here) the UNofficial kilt of EMS providers. I'm getting a black one to wear with my uniform shirt for formal occasions.

I can imagine wearing a kilt on duty might be frowned upon. I've had a ride or two in an ambulance, and had that ground-level perspective.

As the owner of a couple of UKs myself, I can say it's a good kilt if you need pockets. The only thing I'm not real happy with is the narrow aprons. Some other kilt makers use wider aprons, which make for a more comfortable kilt if you're not going to be just standing around somewhere.

I have been an EMS provider for about 7 years now, and I don't think I could wear a kilt on duty, though it would look great as part of a dress uniform for special occasions. I can imagine the look you would get from the first psych patient who sees you in this outfit though!

in denver we were allowed to wear our kilts for the first half( or second) of our shift on St. Paddy's, and tartan day, the only restriction was we had to wear sumthin underneath besides our shoes and socks!

I've been a Paramedic since Johnny and Roy and I would have to disagree with making a utility kilt the unofficial kilt of EMS providers...We had a hard enough time moving to shorts in the industry because of exposure to blood borne pathogens and in some places, they're still not accepted.

The postal service is having their round-a-bout regarding utility kilts for their line of work and truthfully it looks pretty good and is befitting for that occupation.

My beef is with the EMS tartan looking like a tablecloth!

First of all, thank you for doing the work you do.

Regarding the tartan, I've only seen it on the Tartan Register and those images are informative, but not the best representation of how the tartan would look once woven.

As the son of a woman who worked in an ER for 20+ years, I have to agree with her that EMS personnel never get the recognition they deserve. Good on all of you!
