Whern I went to grad school at LSU, I learned to love the strongest version of Community Brand. I'm now on decaf.

I am rabid about good coffee
There is no doubt the "real" kona, and Blue mountain are among the best there are, if, they are roasted properly!
However, I have tried many of the others: Dunkin, Caribou, Starbucks, Gevalia, etc, and come to find Peet's without a doubt is the best, my opinion! They roast it fresh when you order it, the roast date is on the bag. Interesting tidbit, it was Peet's that roasted the coffee for Sstarbucks when Starbucks first started up! The guys in CA, know what I am talking about. thier variety is huge, every region, and blends, represented. I know it has gotta drive my UPS guy nuts, cause you can smell it when you pick up the box!
Gift yourself and order up a couple pounds, you will see from whence I speak.
Oh, and I only use a French press, and grind my beans fresh, makes a huge difference!

On a local level I really like local roasters The Woods or Moka Joe's, where I can enjoy a good strong brew & get a tour of their roasting facilities, or join them for a taste testing session!

I'm drinking a coffee out of my Woods mug right now.

Colin ~ has Woods expanded to north of the border, or did you get the mug while on a visit south?

Community Medium Roast - that's the ticket!
I haven't tried it yet, but I understand that Jim Walters, owner of Caledonian Kitchen is working with locals to revive an old local coffee plant in Nachitoches, LA. I believe the old brand was simply called something like "Nachitoches Coffee." The new brand will have some sort of pirate name. (He told me, but I forgot.) Just trivia for the curious with a little Scots connection.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Mocha Java or Heifer Hope Blend. Totally fair trade, ground at home daily in grandmother's old grinder, and single mug drip

I suspect Jim will make a real go of it. I've had the pleasure to pipe for him once a couple of years ago. A great, jovial fellow!

The house coffee is Community Coffee, Louisiana Blend (dark). Darn near impossible to get in north Texas.
