French-Indian War
I live upstate from Fort du Chartres in Illinois, and have seen several Scots regulars marching under the Union Jack with this arrangement. Remember-during the post-Culloden time period, kilts, swords, etcetc. were forbidden by the disarming act-unless, of course, you were in the employ of the British Army.
