Hmmm, thanks, Wompet, but this shows how important sources are. I prefer the Frank Langella version. Jamie can certainly do that one!

But I had recommended just bats for the belfry.

Just finished an action/adventure novel by James Rollins, The Doomsday Key, that talks about the Egyptians reaching what is now UK prior to the Celts getting there. His bibliography refs Kingdom of the Ark by Lorraine Evans in support of the idea (although, of course, Rollins takes it to the extreme in his novel). Just goes to show that we are all mutts, when it comes right down to it. . .

Oh, I love to read his stuff. I'm working on 'The Last Oracle' right now.

Rather the reverse - once there were very few Humans and they were probably very much alike - like the wolfish things which went hunting with them.

Over time both we and the dogs have become diverse in appearance, but both are just offshoots of the Homo and Canine types, the records of the Kennel Club and Burkes Peerage have much in common.

Anne brings up something interesting to me, that leads me far astray from the topic. But as this is the "off topic" section, I don't feel that bad. Given the melting pot nature of countries like the US and the UK, with intermarriages between races becoming more common, is it not likely that the human species will become more alike in the future? It's a fascinating and wonderful thought to me. Eventually we will bridge the divides between cultures and "races" and truly become the "Human Race!"

Sorry for the thread derailment, but Anne's post sparked a moment of hope for humanity that I had to share!

The megalithic builders of Britain, and the Mediterranean Sea, may have had a common origins, but this was long before the Celts, and perhaps before the Picts.
