what kilt?

Hi guys. I'm going to the Gathering at the weekend and I hope to see many of you there are the various XMarks meetings.
Basically I now have my 2nd kilt. My Ancient Campbell came thismorning after me fretting about it not being made in time... so in the meantime I bought an Auld Land Syne modern which I love.
I'm wondering whether you guys think I should choose which kilt I wear on the saturday by:
clan affiliation (Campbell)
non-clan affiliation - so no MacDonalds spit on me!

(Auld Lang Syne Modern)
most traditional (Campbell)
least traditional and more striking (Auld Lang Syne Modern)
or whichever one I'd prefer for a casual occasion (unsure!)

P.S. no one else will be wearing the Auld Lang Syne... I was guarenteed that by the shop as they're the only ones with the rights to make anything from it as they designed it and they've not started selling kilts in the tartan formally!

There is only one kilt you can wear------your clan one(Campbell). It is a gathering of the clans, after all.

I thought that but then I remembered that clans will all know someone else within the clan... and Im not taking part in the parade - although I'll be watching. I think the Campbell tartan is most reacted to as well!

Oh come on man! All that broo-ha-ha ceased years ago. Where is that clan pride? This is the very time that you really ought to wear YOUR CLAN TARTAN WITH PRIDE.

I'd say given the event, wear your clan tartan it is after all the Gathering. Wear your clan tartan proudly.

True, true. I was hoping I would befriend some Buchanans aswell as my father's side is a sept of their clan which might not be possible with the blue, green and black tartan!
I realise that but I've witnessed a bit of prejudice towards Campbells even in modern times... although it's mainly just jokes at these clan event things!

You can cope with the leg pulling, surely! Give as good as you get! There will not be a clan on parade that has not had a feud with another clan ,or, ten, over the centuries. Now is there?

Paul, although my Clan is Gunn I am not particularly driven by clan association but I am proud to wear the Gunn tartan (in spite of not caring too much for the look of it!). To me, it is the people wearing the tartan that are more important than the clan to which they might belong. But that's just me.

In spite of what I say, I will be wearing my Clan tartan, which is my oldest kilt (1973)** - Gunn in muted colours - to The Gathering on the Saturday, but on the Sunday I will probably opt for something I will be happier dressing-down in, as yet undecided.

** That is, if I can still do up the straps! I have not worn it for well over a year, and I know I've put on a few pounds in weight since then! Must check it before I pack it.

My kilts made of Auld Lang Syne Modern. I think it is - or is similar to the last one on the last called "Auld Lang Syne Blue"
They said they granted rights to a couple of makers in the USA to request mills to make the tartan - however as far as they know from contacting the mill there's been no sales ith that tartan... although they've sold quite a few of the grey version that the shop also made.

I've decided to go in my Campbell Ancient - although I'll wear my Auld Lang Syne on the friday if I have space in my bag to bring it through
