The second jacket is not an officers jacket, it is an "other ranks" (enlisted) pattern shell-jacket with US Cavalry piping from the Civil War period.
As a former reenactor, I agree with David. It's best not mix reproduction kit with a kilt for a "modern" civilian formal function.
