That is a really nice looking kilt, and I think that the sporan and strap are very good - I used to do macramé work and I am inspired to take it up again.
As you are going to try another kilt, might I dare to suggest that you see how the apron looks if you make it just a bit wider?
I think it will look more flattering an inch or so wider - I have been told I have a good eye for the proportions of garments, and their wearers, and my first thought was that the apron looked just a bit narrow. Having gone back and looked at it again it still gives me that impression.
Of course other people might not even notice - and you might want a narrow apron anyway - it was just a thought.
It might very well be the strong vertical lines in the pattern creating a different effect to a disruptive pattern or a solid shade.
Plus, any curling would emphasise the illusion.
I have come across garments where it is necessary to make alterations when making the same thing in different patterns, but I had thought that for a kilt it was only necessary to tweak the measurements of the pleats to achieve different pleating effect - I think I'll have to concede that there are considerations other than preferred style to be taken into account when deciding on the width of the apron.
