Good call! (on both points ) I think they have altered the 12 generation canon. At least that was the impression I got when the Doctor was talking about regeneration. I can't remember if it was Christopher's or David's Doctor. The impression that I got was he just keeps regenerating (till the series is canceled for good) Anyway, the show has clearly showed the Master regenerating and he was supposedly at or beyond his 12th gen. during the Peter Davidson era. The way the show has been going in this latest incarnation; that is one point I will gladly overlook.
There have been mentions of a few methods for a Time Lord to "cheat" the system, the Master clearly having abused several of them over the years. He has stolen at least 2 bodies, and has also been granted a new 12-regenerations. (of which he's only used 1)
