I hate things that hang from my waist

I like the sporran also, but there are times when I don't strap one on. In those cases I'll put my stuff in the tops of my hose. I feel safer with small stuff there.

Good tip, even for those of us who are committed to the sporran. Even if you wear a sporran, it is often difficult to fish out of it the things you need right now. Nothing would stop you from tucking such necessaries between the aprons, even while bedecked with a sporran!

I have found that a sporran adds to the modesty of the kilt, at least for gentlemen such as myself.

I've done something similar, when I want my keys handy. I slip the key fob between the aprons, or between the belt and the kilt. That way, I'm not digging through my sporran, looking for my keys.

My mom used to tuck stuff into her bra strap when she was skirted. For what that's worth. I do sometimes tuck my keys into my waistband when wearing a kilt without pockets. Same thing.

I'm puzzled as to the meaning behind the above. Is the suggestion that not having a handbag sized leather er.. bag, tied round the waist and dangling down makes the kilt somehow less of a kilt ?
I didn't realise that a hierarchy exists...

Well now you know!

It is not a hierarchy thing at all, but many are of the opinion that no sporran equals no kilt. There are recognised exceptions though, such as highland games events.
