First time in public in an SWK 2morrow

Walked in the front of school today. The Girl's Cross Country Team (40 girls) were sitting in front of our school waiting for their captain's run. Well, I had to walk right past all of them on the way to my office. I got a few cat calls, but several "cool skirt"s I smiled and said. "Thanks, it's a kilt." Talk about an opportunity to be embarrassed, instead it was a quite different response.

The wingtips, especially with those socks. It'll help pull the outfit together. Of course, you'll want to go with a a different shirt, like a polo or a button-up. Oooh, I'm all tingly so I'd better slow down.

I recognize your sporran. I have one too. Nifty Notions, right? It's a good day sporran for really casual outfits. The small size makes it easier to get stuff out, especially since I only carry my phone & wallet.

You could wear black boots with that t shirt, but go with grey socks, I say. I have some from utilikilt (3/4 leg) that I roll down on my black combat boots.

Though I have had an SWK Nightstalker for almost a month, I have not worn it out of the house. I have really enjoyed the Utilikilts, but have been afraid of not having enough traditional accouterments to pull off a real kilt.

So tomorrow I am going to put it out there. I hope that after wearing and being seen in a real kilt I will feel the need for the right flashes, hose, shirt and bigger sporran. I will wear a black or white polo with matching socks, or maybe the cream hose (pictured.) I will skip the kilt belt, but will need to make a sporran belt.

Question is black boots or Doc Marten Wingtips?

Of course, the answer is...yes! They will both work really well. However, don't sell the Doc Martens short. I think they are great with the outfit you have on in the above picture. I have a pair of those in solid Navy blue, and I love them. Your kilt is great, and your ideas about your ensemble are great as well. IMHO, the Doc Martens you have are fantastic, and make a great outfit with your other kit. You may jones for single color Doc Martens, but your model is on my jones list...Congratulations!

Those ARE some great looking wingtips. Even thought they're non-traditional, they have more of a "dress-up" air to them.

I wouldn't wear them with a graphics T-shirt, but a polo or button down would be great.

So, really one of the first times I've been out in public kilted (other than to the occasional bar crawl/kilt night) was to Disneyland on Sunday. And I'm going again tomorrow, and yep, kilted again!

I did NOT get the reaction I thought I would have. A few stares, some cute chicks REALLY staring, but for the most part, nada. Ok, well, in the loo a little boy asked his dad why i was dressed like a lady . . . I heard the reply really soft but could just make out "kilt", so all in all, a good answer!
