    It is always interesting to see the mish-mash of tartans and patterns without regard for what we would call coordinating in these old painting. Thanks for starting this thread.

    I've never seen that particular painting of Lord Dunmore before -- this is the one I'm familiar with:

    Some of my ancestors fought under Lord Dunmore in his "War" against the Shawnees in 1774-75.
