...was I just insulted? I hope so! Jabots I don't think I could do. Naked? Now that I'd be down for!

I do think you should have a black Argyle jacket, possibly barathea , for those weddings, Nighthawk, instead of the Prince Charlie coatee. If I remember, you rented the PC, but if you ever buy a jacket and waistcoat...
Even a black Braemar jacket would do fine. I just think you would get a lot more use out of it than the PC.

With the greatest of respect Nighthawk, I think Ted is right. As we are talking traditional here, a daywear jacket would fit the bill rather better than a PC.

And that is only the half of it. As Jock has touched on before, we have a very valid reason for not appearing in public naked. Millions of reasons in fact - they're called midges!

Yes too right! Even the kilt takes second place to trousers when those jokers are about and to the devil with tradition!

That, sir, is why my grandmothers family moved- to get from the wee blighters. And then they discovered that Colorado has billions of mosquitos...

I could not agree more. I actually prefer the look of the Argyll, anyway!

Never say never Jock Some of the demands of people just make no sense. I have had requests to wear a jacket and tie with the kilt outdoors! in summer temps down this way. Anything over 95 F is just uncomfortable with a a lot of layers.

It's normaly up around 115 degrees F or more in the summer.
I don't have a tweed kilt jacket, but I do have a gray tweed sport jacket. I got it out yesterday to try on, and looking at it, it is far too heavy for the warm weather. We have a couple of months of cool weather though...
I noticed that the tweed jacket is a bit scratchy too because I didn't have on a collar and long sleeve shirt at the time...

I'm happy to see this thread. It is my intention to expand my kilt kit to include traditional, pseudo-military (for piping), and modern/non-traditional. IMHO, each has its place and time. Currently, I'm in the middle of expanding my traditional wear and the XMTS traditionalists here have been very cordial and informative in providing me with excellent assistance.
