aztec camera reign supreme over my favorite scottish musical acts. roddy frame was a supremely talented youth and to think that the bulk of the classic album high land, hard rain was written when he was 14 is a staggering creative achievement.
all three bands on the short lived 80s glasgow label postcard records are among my favorites: aztec camera, orange juice and josef k.
other faves would be simple minds, jesus and mary chain, waterboys, belle and sebastian, travis.
to be completely fair, big country get an unfair rap as "one hit wonders" with in a big country, but the the crossing is a most excellent album with a rousing fusion of folk tale style with driving rock.
