Still a bargain compared to most other sporrans of similar quality.

That's a beauty and very reasonable. Nice find and thanks for passing it on.

Thanks; and, You're welcome! Here it is mounted properly (better lighting too):

Great looking sporran! I'm very sorely tempted to get one myself at that price.
Where did you get the sporran belt? Is that an Oconee Leather Works job? How close a match is it to the sporran leather? (Looks indistinguishable on this computer monitor.)

Admittedly, the colour match is uncanny; but, to be perfectly honest, I found the 'sporran strap' in the bargain rack at my local tack-shop (Apple Saddlery): a pair of 48" (child's) stirrup-straps for $30.00! Normally, stirrup-straps can run between $150-$250 for a pair. These were a little dry, but have oiled up nicely.
I would definitely recommend Oconee Leather for custom leather sporran straps however.
Cheers!

Great looking sporran, and a good price too. This one looks like it opens up far enough, and large enough to be useful. Thanks for posting your assesment of the sporran for us.

Never have cared much for that style of sporran and except for my super-fancy white fur dress sporran I've paid much less for better looking styles. I'd also rather have a chain than a strap, hands down.
HOWEVER, the color match is very good.

If you can't say something nice...

What was the intent of this post?
Instead of being negative and telling someone "I don't like your new sporran"...why not contribute positively? If you've bought quality sporrans for "much less"...please share pics and details on where to get a better bargain. I'm sure we'd all like to hear about them. I, for one, think that $60 for a piece like this is very reasonable...I wouldn't make it myself and sell it for less.
