Growing up for my family it was The Wildwoods and Cape May.
During the Doo Wop Music era.
At that time there was a definite “class” (for lack of a better word) difference between the summer visitors to North Wildwood, Wildwood, and Wildwood Crest, and Cape May.

Hasn't changed that much!

I hope this doesn't give New Jersey a bad reputation now. I'd hate to see the good state's name sullied.

There's nothing we could say about New Jersey here that would give it a worse reputation than what it has garnered from comedians for decades.
