Day 6 Continued - The Parade; Rush to the Start
Leaving my room at Pollock Halls to go to the Parade, I saw another member, Marilyn of the Clan MacCallum Malcolm. We shared the big moment of the Parade with this photo.
Okay, I reneged on not wearing a tartan tie with the kilt. But as I had seen two of the Scottish Malcolm men do it this morning, I decided as I was in Scotland I would do as the Malcolms’ do!
We had been given strict order about our line up time with our Clan. I was running late. I decided to grab a taxi to make the 10 minute walk a 5 minute journey. But instead of going on the road along Holyrood Park, the cabbie headed downtown. In 5 minutes were dead in traffic. I asked him why he didn’t take the Holyrood road? Closed he said. Right, I said paid the 5 Quid and was farther away from the start line then when I started. That cab was not going anywhere for a very long time.
But what experience I encountered! I came to the Royal Mile just above Waverly Station and headed to the Start line thinking I would just link up to my Clan when I encountered the Parade. But I had the whole road to myself! The crowd was looking down the Mile expecting to see the Parade and I was strutting down an empty road all by myself. A reverse parade of sorts!

Confusion!
But I didn’t meet the Parade; only the rabble! The Parade was way behind schedule. There was much lining up to do!
My Clan was not where it was suppose to be. Others were looking for their clans. It was a hoot! I stepped from the madness to have a Kodak moment.

Things come together
Then our Clan placard appeared.
Others found their places.
People began to move!
We move on to the Palace grounds!
As folks snapped our picture, I snapped them to their delight!

Starting up the Royal Mile!
The crowd was immense!
Everyone was in a festive mood.
Some had found a good vantage point.
Others had found better vantage points.
Then there were the best vantage points.

MacCallum Malcolm Clan
Our Prez Neil McCallum and family
The fellow on the left, I knew was really happy!
So, I called to him, “Act like you are having fun!”

Moving forward
The crowd is overwhelmed with over 8 thousand marchers
Our Prez waves to the Crowd
Neil yells back to me “there is the reporter who wants to talk to you!” I turn back to see a lass with a large telephoto lens camera and a fellow with a big video camera. We both smile and wave, and I march on.
Even the statues are overwhelmed by the crowd of marchers.
