And, if you're doing any networking its a lot easier for folks to remember you.

Thanks for the ideas but I pretty much know most of the folks I will be working with through our society so the networking will be more social than anything else. And with my personality, and size, I am pretty much already memorable enough. Wearing a kilt to the meetings would more than likely be disruptive and counterproductive in this case. The wife, coming along, is not a kilt fan and would prefer I keep this professional, so just the one kilt for the kilt night with new folks will be more than sufficient for this trip.

Well, I'm coming up for a long weekend in August and I'm bringing a kilt - maybe two!

Sir William
Please keep us informed as to your plans, I can not remember if we talked about it or not yet, things can get a little foggy from time to time.

Seeing as there are a number of kiltmakers in the area, you could come up with one but have maybe 5 waiting for you here to bring home or wear whilst you are visiting. "Honest honey, I only am bringing one kilt with me!"

We did - briefly after I found out I was coming up about a month ago. I'll be arriving late afternoon on Saturday, August 15th and leaving the afternoon of Tuesday, August 18th. For the most part I'll be on my own as the wife will be in business meetings and dinners, thus leaving me to my own devices.
I'll be in touch again when I return from Scotland in late July to see about arranging a kilt night.

Slight adjustment of plans due to the meeting schedule. Seems we will be arriving in Toronto mid-day Tuesday 9/8 instead of Monday, with my meeting starting that evening. We will still be staying at the Delta Chelsea Hotel for the entire trip and meeting, leaving Sunday 9/13 afternoon. We will still have either Thursday 9/10 or Saturday 9/12 evenings available for a kilted gathering if we can rustle up a few interested folks. I know you guys have had several visitors of late so if folks are worn out of kilt nights I will understand. Hoping to have my "unskewed" Maple Leaf Tewksbury tank back by then----seems fitting for the trip I think. Looking forward to putting some more names and faces together with the xmarks handles, and some photo action as well.

I think that as it's going to be September it really should not be a problem, we have been getting about one visitor a month of late, and we normally have a kilt night every month as well. If you are going to be at the Delta Chelsea at 33 Gerrard Street West perhaps we should do something close to the hotel. I'll investigate a location or two in the next wee while.

I will be in Toronto on Thursday Sept. 10th teaching from 10:00am - 1:00 PM. I am a block away on Gerrard Street. There is a nice pub just about a 100 feet from the west entrance of the hotel. It was "The Devils Advocate" name has changed but a nice pub with reasonably good food.
There is the Elephant and Castle on the corner of Yonge and Gerrard which is accessible from the North exit of the hotel on Gerrard street turn right to Yonge.
I have two choices of trains the 5:40 or a 10:00 PM from Union Station....so I better wear my DFT that day. (First day of classes at Ryerson)
Cheers
Robert
