So J. Peterman's catalog offered a leather jean jacket in their current catalog http://jpeterman.com/product~cat~100...u~MOW+2482.asp

I'm a jean jacket junkie and love wearing jean jackets with my kilts in lieu of sporrans. And, I own two leather kilts.

But, I'm also a bit skeptical of catalog copy that has a lot of fancy flowery stories about the product and little hard information. I called J. Peterman for more info and they said they'd take my questions and email me. They did, but it took about three more email exchanges to get more solid information that led me to buy.

I found out that the leather jean jacket was made from "genuine leather" which was okay, not the best but its just a jean jacket. Its made from calf splits and was tanned in Italy.

They sell themselves short with their adjectives and stories. When the jacket arrived it was much better than I'd expected. Peterman never mentions that it is fully lined. There's a deep inside left chest pocket, and the handwarmer pockets are deep enough for lots of "stuff" if you're not gonna wear a sporran. There are adjustable side tabs with buttons like on cotton jean jackets. Cut seems to be the same as with cotton jean jackets. The brass buttons were covered with tissue during transport and there were those little bags of silica to absorb moisture in the handwarmer pockets.

This is a quality jacket for sure. Its not inexpensive at $248.00 but it is worth that price and the value is there.

Its too hot for me to be wearing it now so no actual pics. The painting on the Peterman website above is accurate though.

So, if you're a jean jacket with kilts guy too, and like leather jackets, take a look.
