Rex beat me to it. I will just add that hiking the kilt up a very little bit will get rid of the puff behind the sporran. It will also make the kilt more comfortable when worn for long periods of time in the pews.

Have you discovered that there are often as many opinions as there are people to give them?

WBSOCKS is where I have bought all of my kilt hose. I will look at the lovat blue as well. Thank you.

YUP! That is why I ask. I want lots of different ideas. I have no where else to go for them. No one in my family will wear a kilt except me. So, keep it up!

Well I have to say I disagree about the tie/short sleeved shirt. I think it looks fine. Comfort is important. As this is not a formal situation I think comfort wins out. I often wear a short sleeved shirt and tie both with and without a kilt.

I am with Rex too. There really ought to be a distinct gap between the bottom of the kilt and the top of the hose of at least(as a guide) 2 to 3 inches. 5 inches would be even better! You do look very smart sir, nevertheless.

Another thought! Do you chaps over there have such things as; regimental, college, university, club ties, or ties of that style? If you do, they go very well with the kilt and are very traditional(last 100 years or so anyway).

I am not familiar with those. Do you have any pictures I can look at?

Yes, we do, Jock, although not as common in the UK and the Commonwealth.

I don't think it's just the camera angle - if a camera held at eye level can't see any knee, neither can any other observer you encounter. Try hiking the kilt a smidge so that there's a bit of tartan to be seen above the belt. And I think your hose could stand a slightly wider cuff - pull the opening down to just below the widest part of your calf instead of just above it where you have it now, so that the cuff covers your calf and not the top of your shins.

A few minor adjustments and you're good to go - wear what you have, and wear it with pride and confidence, and you'll look like a million bucks!

    Regards,
    Rex.
    I agree.
