"Home", to me, is where family is.
I have grown accustomed to the Pacific NW climate and really enjoy that, too!
I wish ALL of my family could live nearby.
I hear rumors that heaven will be perfect... but I digress.

My ultimate Utopia dream involves a 38' Class A Recreational Vehicle.

I can summer in Maine where the lobster is fresh and the air is clean.

I can make my way down the Eastern Seaboard and take in the fall colors.

During the winter I can play the championship golf courses of the Desert Southwest.

And during the spring, I can venture to the Great Northwest where the flowers and trees bloom.

Or, I can just sit in my driveway with a brew and a ballgame on the TV. Either way, it doesn't take much to go where and when I want. But that's a few years down the road after my retirement.

Cessna, I think you would enjoy that kind of lifestyle.

I agree. There are so many wonderful places in the world. I like where I am the best, though, here in the Pacific Southwest, and will never move away. Also, almost all my family lives nearby, which makes it even better.

New Zealand has all this, and you can visit all in the same (long) day!!

    Seconded.

Being from Invercargill, I would have to say that somewhere back in Southland (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southland_Region) would be my spot, which for those not in the know, is the very bottom of the South Island (Te Wai Pounamu) of New Zealand.

All within a 3 hour drive, are, Fiordland (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiordland),
    The Catlins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Catlins) (even Closer),
    Queenstown and Arrowtown (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queenst...wiki/Arrowtown),
    Te Anau (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Te_Anau),
20 min flight to Stewart Island, or a 2.5 ferry ride. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewart_Island/Rakiura).

But to be perfectly honest, I'd have to say Stewart Island, Fishing, Diving, Shooting...Blue cod, oysters, Crayfish, and Venison...

I could never pick one place on the planet to call my utopia. My idea of utopia would be to be able to live in many places over the course of my life. I've grown up as somewhat of a gypsy, never living in one place for more than ten years and often less than two. Because of that I've always embraced the saying "home is where you hang your hat". As long as my wife is with me I'm home.

Green springs, mild summers, beautiful autumns, winters ideal for snow-shoeing (or maybe dog-sledding ), green fields and hills for hiking, plenty of game for hunting and fishing (for those who enjoy those sort of thing )(sorry, no salmon - our streams have trout ) - I'm going to have to go with Pennsylvania.

Mine would be a sailboat. Something in the 40 foot range, big enough to cross oceans but small enough to handle with 1 or 2 people. Then I could visit lots of places around the world and I would always be home.
