Usually when I'm out hiking I carry my stick. Other than that not really. If I'm at a Highland Games / Event I'm usually working the function so I can't have a hand tied up resting on my walking stick. Although at times I do teach my lads fighting techniques with sticks.

I always carry a "Stockyard cane", they are about ten bucks at farm supply stores.
I like the fact that I can carry it on an airplane with no questions asked.

I also have a 6' wood hiking staff I made a few years ago.
I always thought those "trekking poles" looked ridiculous, but I borrowed one when I hiked the NaPali Coast trail in Hawaii, and was glad I had it- that was a rough hike and the pole was a godsend.

This is a 6 foot walking stick I made out of a beautiful piece of Rosewood. It's 1" in diameter with an iron tip. I've wrapped a piece of rawhide at the handhold and added a couple of turk's heads. I carry it every time I walk the hills around town.

I can't get round to looking at some of the pics of sticks here, because the scenery in some of the pics pics is absolutely STUNNING... I particularly like the first one from Riverkilt in Arizona, where he is standing looking at the Sandstone Bluffs... Amazing, and a lot of the other pics as well are just so spectacular, what a beautiful Country...

I don't know how I missed voting in the poll, but I always carry one of my walking sticks when out and about. Especially at gatherings and Highland games when I'm going to be on my feet for long periods. Partly for the assistance it adds{artifical knees ya know} and partial self preservation.

Not really... I will when I'm hiking in the highland around November however!

I will carry/use a walking stick when I am an elderly gentleman. Until then, I walk on two legs.
