I have four, four yard box pleated kilts and they are the ones I wear almost all the time. I have even considered selling the 8 yard knife pleated kilts I have, but they are such wonderful things, that so far I can't bring myself to do it, even though they hardly every get worn.

I suggest buying the best thing you can afford. Hand made, tailored for you kilts are truly wondrously marvelous things.

I definitely get more orders for my 5-yard Knife-Pleated Kilt (What I call the 'Knife-Pleated Standard on my website.) than any other style of kilt. All my kilts, regardless of pleating style, are made traditionally. As has often been said on this forum, what defines the level of formality in a Highland outfit is how the kilt is accessorized.
