Woven silk or wool sounds grand!
Next question is, 'necktie' or bow? I assume that most here are thinking 'necktie'? As for me, I vote for a bow tie.
Superba in southern California is one of the last places in the USA that still makes ties. In the last year, they eliminated their machine tie department, but I believe that they still do their high end hand made ties. I am not sure how small of a run they are willing to do, but I could find out.

Woven silk. Wool is right out, don't even consider it. The stripes won't look as crisp, and wool is a tad too "soft" for any sort of dressy occasion.

You know me, I'm crazy for bow ties but I suspect that's a minority opinion. If its a custom order its got to be a majority decision. I for one can live with that.
