Alan, you certainly got some traction with this topic!
Necktie versus bow tie is a red herring. As Glen points out, the same fabric can serve for both, with a modicum of care. I'd probably want one of each, but bow tie is my first choice.
Beau Ties, Ltd. is a possible source. They can work with customer fabric, or help from design to execution. Customer fabric carries a very modest set-up and per-tie surcharge. Full service probably requires a lump sum up front. We'd have to ask about terms and minimum orders.
