I think at this point the majority wants a silk, four-in-hand tie. While I have personally made an X-Marks tartan tie from leftover kilting tartan, I don't wear it with the kilt. It's the one guideline from Hamish that "stuck" in my head. I think we should head in the direction of a regimental stripe tie,which is after all, what Jock Scots post was all about..
The Zardoz variant of the McMurdo design seems to be reasonably popular...and we have well over 20 guys who say they'll buy one.

I am in for a silkie stripe. I dont wear a tie often but i would choose this one.
