There are fairly specific regulations as to how medals may be worn, even when used with civilian attire. I don't think using them as a kilt pin would pass.

Based on 26 years of military service, I would not recommend the wearing or mixing of military awards, insignia and rank with civilian attire. I believe that there are certain rules and regulations to that affect.....Have you looked into modifiying unit "coins" for wear. They are of good wieght, size and come in numerous designs. Just a thought...

I like this idea with the coins. I think that wearing medals is something that you cannot get creative with.
