Was thinking like this, only with my tartan of choice replacing the Pendleton blanket wool.

These are from www.kraffs.com have some good jackets from them...need to email them and see if they'd do custom work from a different pattern wool...I like the leather sleeves and trim.

I hope you are able to find a place that will do that, Ron. I'm kind of having some thoughts about having tartan wool put on just the apron of a canvas kilt because of this talk of the tartan bomber jackets and stuff.

Ron, did you ever find someone to make a tartan bomber jacket for you?

No, but haven't been seeking a jacketmaker either...and haven't picked a tartan. Anyone else??

You know Ron, this probably won't help you much, but the lady cop ("Brenda") in the first Highlander movie (1986) wore a tartan letterman-type jacket in her opening scenes (in the underground garage). Of course that could've been made special just for the film. Thought I'd toss it out there though.

    Thanks Terry,

So the jacket is in the real of possibility. Still no clue "which" tartan to choose for such a project or the weight of fabric necessary to sustain the wear and tear on a wool jacket. There are so many plain wool jackets that shouldn't be difficult to figure out though.

Feel free to think out loud about this. I've wondered about the same thing. Looking at plain wool coats online, I have yet to come across fabric weight in the product descriptions.
