Galician,
I've been missing from this forum for way to long, but then I come back and see this far too familiar story. Take heart, friend, there is always someone who wants to suppress others in the name of "policy", or "standards" or some such smoke and mirrors, even more so when customers and co-workers are largely supportive of the kilt. It's a bitter truth that sometimes we have to accept their edicts in order to make a living. I've found that this suppression makes the kilt that much more precious to me when I do get to wear it. Their foolishness only has a temporary control. I think it's just natural belligerence and perseverance that makes me more determined to wear the kilt and treasure it in spite of naysayers. In the long run,we win by rising above temporary restriction and frustration to become more determined to wear and promote the wearing of the kilt.
Remember: You can stand firm and have them hammer you down to ruble or you can bend like a reed and spring up behind them after they've passed by.
