I think it has more to do with a status symbol. So my answer to your question depends solely on whether your son intends to live in Cincinnati after high school, otherwise it does not really matter. All I can say is watch out for those Elder boys, you know how they are.
I find that a bit odd, the town rivalry is nothing compared to what it is farther north. People in Dayton seem to care more about the Bengals than people in West Chester. But I agree, it does seem that the schools are more status than anything. I know people in Medera. I don't know if they were always arrogant, but 2 kids in that HS has made them quite a bit so.
