Yippee!! Another one of us in Georgia!!!

The Savannah games are great - very small and homey!! It's a one day festival in May. The last two years it has been held on the grounds of the Bethesda Boys Home. Gorgeous, historic location. Also, because it's down on the tidal marsh, it's quiet and secluded. The only complaint I've heard about this one is that there's no alcohol allowed at the games because of the location. However, if you must have a drink, there are plenty of other peripheral celebrations. We went to a baseball game (the local minor league team Savannah Sand Gnats) where there was a kilt night. Also, a GREAT local pub we were introduced to is called Molly MacPhersons. We met several other XMarkers there and have developed some friends from that trip. So, much smaller than a lot of the other games, but the extra stuff makes it very special and well worth the trip.

The Stone Mountain Highland Games are coming up October 17th and 18th! VERY BIG!!! Around 40,000 people over the two days!! Last year there was something like 600 members in the massed pipe band!! There is no way to keep a dry eye when that many pipes and drums play Amazing Grace!! AWESOME!!! We are on the Grounds Committee for this one and hope to see you there!!!
