Black barathea is as Jock and others have pointed out is far too formal a look, if everyone else is wearing a suit, then wearing the black barathea would be far too formal. Wear the tweed, you will fit in with the other groomsmen. If it were me I'd wear something like this

or this

The colour of the tweed matters little, if you have a dark tweed, then wear it but if it's light that's fine as well.

csbdr,
If I were in your circumstances and based on the information given (the most important one's being that it is a morning and informal wedding) I would pick and outfit like this

However I would certainly check with the groom and if possible the other ushers to see what they were wearing.

I'm sure what ever you choose you will be a hit at the wedding.

Certainly
It is from Hector Russell. I'd have to say it is the most versatile jacket in my wardrobe, so nice I got married in it, here is my review on it from way back when.

I have one which looks identical from a distance, but is not tweed. I agree that it's the most versatile thing I own. Add a wing collar and grey cravat, and you're good for a formal morning wedding. Drop the waistcoat and tie, wear a black silk shirt, and it works for a hippy-dippy, I dunno, sorta morning wedding.

Mine came from the Scottish Tartans Museum shop as a Crail jacket & waistcoat (though most would call it a Braemar). IIRC it's made by House of Edgar, so probably it is a fairly common stock item. But of course, you should buy it from one of our fine XMTS sponsors.

You know what, I think the phrase "hippy-dippy" may be the most accurate description here....
I think you guys have sold me on sticking with the tweed. I wasn't sure if being elevated from guest to groomsman would change what was needed. I may get a dark charcoal tweed....I've been wanting one anyway. thanks everyone!
