    nothing big this year 9-11

never forget those who died that horrible day.

no video,no big speech in honor of my 343 brothers, and their police & EMS counterparts.

last year someone said they didnt want to be reminded every year with a video of that day, so out of respect for their wishes I will not post one.

but I wont let anyone forget either....

    yours aye,

KYW1060 (local news radio) REplayed their 9/11/2001 radio transmission.

My flag was out at both the shop and my home (my home flag is always out).

I listened to KYW also and WHP in Harrisburg Both brought back dark memories but ones that need to be recalled. Our flag flies at all times along with the service flags of the Marines and Army Three out of our five children served our country. Let us all hope and pray it does not happen again, but I fear that it will when we again become complacent and least expect it.

If complacency can be counted, then I suppose the 37 postings (thus far today) on "The Never Ending Story in Three Words" vs the 4 postings on "Nothing Big This Year 9-11" might be a pretty accurate census.

Thank you for posting this reminder, as you say that day, and the victims should never be forgotten.

Thank you for your post. I DO wish to be reminded of that day. There are many days in my life that were filled with terror and fear but never have I seen such a day of total and complete horror and anger and sorrow. The first responders will always have my complete respect. May everyone remember that our freedom is expensive and tenuous and should not be taken for granted.

Yes Mac you are so right and complacency is indeed the problem. Thank you for reminding us.

I was in an office in Jacksonville, FL when I got the word. I listened in horror to the newscasts. As a Navy veteran, my first response was rage. I gave an oath to support and defend, but I was impotent to do anything.

That day, a friend and I stood in line for hours to donate blood. It was all we could think to do. A radio DJ shook my hand and said I was doing a good thing. I thought to myself that the woman was an idiot. I was doing my duty to the best of my ability, I did nothing admirable.

I was taught to believe that duty and honor are the precepts by which civilized people live. To my regret, I have learned that damned few of our species have attained that ideal.

Among those who have, I count the First Responders who gave their lives at ground zero, as well as the others who supported them. I honor their memory.

I honor the memory of the men and women who have sacrificed themselves in the fight against terrorism, in Iraq and Afghanistan, regardless of their nationality.

Mistakes have been made, as in all human endeavors. History has demonstrated, time and again, that human stupidity has no limit; nevertheless, I hope that wisdom and justice will prevail in the end.

I took nine minutes and eleven seconds out of each my classes today to talk about the dedication and bravery of the rescue workers. Some really great photos out there to share that so many high school kids had never seen because most were only eight when it happened.

Two students thought that a plane had just crashed into the tower and didn't get the big deal. They became educated today sir!

I piped at two memorial services today (same two every year). The numbers were down considerably. I believe our short national memory is a real problem.
