BTW, my dig at you was tongue in cheek.

Aye, my son's enthusiasm goes beyond the need to win. As for the footy, well, kilts or not, it's gonna be a long game!

welcome to Scotland hope you have a good time , I like to travel light so that means I always go in my kilt ! I now have got 6 kilts and recently got my first real kilt mac laren ancient as the rest of my kilts are casul kilts. if you dont have your kilt with you then you can buy a casual kilt , they seem to be cheeper over in edinburgh than in glasgow

I just got back from a 10-day trip to Canada with nothing more than a carry-on bag. I prefer to travel light (as in: no checked baggage) so I hear you loud & clear in the "very little room left in my luggage" department.
However, that does not excuse you from not having your kilt! I got around the "room in the luggage" problem just by wearing my kilt while traveling. It's very comfortable on the plane, a very friendly conversation-starter with the security personnel at the airport (although admittedly I did not have to deal with The U.S.'s TSA), and I got considerable attention from the flight attendants. One wanted to "feel the fabric" and another told me that her wedding was entirely kilted. When asked "why," I mentioned comfort while traveling -- especially on long flights, and a flight attendant laughed and said that I had discovered something that women had known for years.
So there you have it. Don't worry about packing a kilt to take with you. For pity sakes, WEAR it...
