Why not make a stick like a sword cane and substitute a fishing rod for the blade. Just whip the rod out sorted.

    1) Braid you Double taper fly line so that it will work as a fancy sporran belt.
    2) Take a two piece fly rod
    a) make the handle removable.
    b) place the tip section inside the hollow bottom section of the rod.
    c) put rubber cane tip on the end away from the handle
    e) reattach the rod handle.
    3) In many types of fly fishing the reel is basically just a storage container for the line and not used to fight the fish. Therefore, it is optional. But if you really want it put a pin on the back and wear it as a broach for your fly plaid.

Or learn how to tickle the fish. Stand kilted very still in the middle of the stream. When the fish come up to find out what is worn under the kilt, grab them and throw them on the river bank.
