Father's Passing
My dear old Da Robert passed this morning at 4:00 PST surrounded by his family. At 84, his ten year battle with prostate cancer is over and he is on to a grand new adventure. While our family will miss him, I only ask you to hold your family close to you and celebrate life in all its beauty and diversity as our family will.
I would like to say a "special thank you" to all the dear people at the VA hospital where my father lived out his last two weeks. I have never seen so much love, compassion, and good humor from so many people in my life. Our family was both blessed and honored to be part of that community.
I only ask you linger not in sadness but celebrate the joy that surrounds us all and as my friend Star says...
Be Well.

Beautiful sentiment, pdcorlis, and it says volumes about the family your Da raised.
Best to you and yours and a tip of the hat to your Da as he begins his "new adventure".

My prayers are with you and your family on your Fathers passing. Rest be sure, He is in a much better place surrounded by Love.. Let the thoughts of his love for you, constantly warm your heart.
My experiences with the VA were also pleasant, when I undertook a major surgery, I was treated with nothing but respect and a sense of being with family. I am glad your experience is much the same..
Celebrate the Life!

May you find peace within yourself, take comfort in the warm embrace of your loved ones around you, and be resolved in the knowledge that this life’s journey of your Father is completed.
May he journey well into the Summerlands, and take his place among the Ancestors in the Otherworld.
Peace be unto you and your kindred.

How blessed you all were to have lost him from this life in such a caring environment. May you continue to feel the comfort of this love and peace as his absence from your lives is continually noted and felt in your daily lives for years ahead.
If I might permitted to add, given the fairly rapid death many men who develop this particular disease suffer, you have the added blessing of his having beaten it for such a long time.

Phil, what a great sentiment.
