I would suspect it is the lighting that gave the impression of no vents. The only Jacket I have without vents is my Montrose Doublet, I can tell you there are times when I wish a Montrose came with them, it gets rather hot and uncomfortable depending on the situation.

I should have left out the "Argyle" part of my post up there. I think almost, if not all, Argyle jackets have that flap in the back between the vents. There are other styles of daywear jackets, though. Some even have pleating in the back.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

It is quite interesting, and worthy of note, that Prince Charles does not wear a bonnet. I've seen him in caps, bowlers, panamas, top hats, fur hats, even cowboy hats, but I don't seem to recall a photo of him wearing a bonnet.

Do you remember that 'thing' that Prince Charles wore the day the Mary Rose was raised? I looked like a ship captains cap that had been beaten to death on a daily basis for weeks before he wore it.

There was this momentous occasion on national television and all the announcer could say was "What's he wearing on his head?" He didn't wear it the next day.

    Regards

    Chas

Here is the picture I am referring to. It may be the lighting or the angle but it looks like to me "no vents". The vents may be perfectly closed but with his arm up you would think it would be pulled open.

    I know I am beating a dead horse(grin).

I thought the vent was the big hole in the bottom of the kilt.

I have never understood these people jacking up HRH on how and what he wears.

We as free men over here across the pond can wear whatever we want to wear, when ever we wish to wear it, however we wish to do so.

Why is it then that Chuck catches hell if any part of his attire is other than traditional?

This guy will most likely be King George the VIIth, he should be able to wear what he darn well wants to in his own kingdom.

As for the vents maybe he used a light breathable material and does not need them? Maybe he thinks that vents look dumb.
