Clan Scott Gathering & Muster of the Clans -3

And so we come to the third and final set of pictures from this most enjoyable event.

Scocha came on stage in the big marquis on Saturday evening. Here, early in the concert, Scocha begin to warm up the audience.

At the interval I rushed out to sample the hog roast before the queue built up.

A night shot outside the music and bar marquis.

On the way back in I was confronted by twae reivers, but they let me pass.

In the second half Scocha gie'd it sum wellie....

....they soon had the audience dancing in the aisles.

Chappie (David Chapman) was really lively

Scottie (Ian Scott) changed out of his usual black kilt into a kilt in a Scott tartan which went down well with the audience.

Sunday, the final day, was more subdued, and I took Ann along to the hog roast barbecue in the grounds of Bowhill House.

It had been a few years since my career had brought me into contact with Lord Steel of Aikwood, or as he was previously known Sir David Steel.
Lord Steel of Aikwood is a former leader of the Liberal Democrat party and was the first Speaker to the new Scottish Parliament.

A father and son from San Diego, California, both of whom wear kilts, but surprisingly neither had heard of xmarksthescot. I was told that the beautiful kilt which the father on the right is wearing was made by Kilts by Susan of San Diego.

Our Californian friend chats with his clan chief, the Duke of Buccleuch.

Meanwhile I wore my Maple Leaf today, which received a lot of positive comments.

    Steve from Pennsylvania

    Steve with Ann

Steve talks with Alistair and Helen Currie. Helen is events manager at Bowhill Estate and she and her staff put a lot of hard work into making this happen. Her husband is a lawyer in Hawick.

Ann, with John who had travelled from Christchurch, New Zealand to attend the Muster.

A banner which Clan Scott Society USA presented to the Chief of Clan Scott.

I leave you with a final shot of the lassies, Lisa James, Colorado Commissioner to Clan Scott Society USA with another Colorado Scott and Ann.
I wore my xmarks dandelion each day and met lots of kilt wearers from all over the world, yet not a single xmarker made themselves known to me, clearly there are a lot more kilt wearers out there who never visit forums such as ours.
An interesting comment from one non-kilted American whom I spoke to. He told me that he regularly wears a kilt for everyday casual wear while in the USA but he decided not to bring a kilt to Scotland as he had thought it was not the done thing in Scotland to wear a kilt as casual wear, that kilts were only worn here on very special occasions and it would have been a heavy item to pack if he was only going to get to wear it to the Clan Scott formal dinner. He hadn't considered travelling in the kilt and he said he wished he had brought a kilt with him.
As an aside, over the course of the event I chatted with a Duke and two Lords, I can think of no other hobby than ours which brings the ordinary citizen into such regular contact with the aristocracy.
    That's all folks.
