...and it wasn't me! Hopefully a fellow X Marker got it. My point in posting the reference was to highlight the fact that it isn't necessary to spend $500-$700 for a classical sporran. If you keep your eyes wide open they are out there, and often at amazingly cheap prices.

If some one here at XMTS did buy it, then don't be bashful. Like McMurdo said, we'd love to see some photos...

Great thread there on the horse hair sporrans. You definitely don't see them too often here in the states. Of course I don't get out to too many balls either...

One observation I thought worth mention is that there seemed to be a preference for wearing these type sporrans with the lacey collars and more Vicotorian(?) style formal wear? I thought it also seemed to fit better in most of these instances as opposed to ganged with the modern PC and bow tie etc. More or less anyway...

A good point, Wes. It's important that all the elements of an outfit go together, not just in levels of formality, but in style, as well. I think an angora goat hair sporran, for example, might compliment a Sherrifmuir worn with lace jabot or a cravat quite nicely. Perhaps it would not look so congruous with an Argyle and neck tie.
