    It comes to the knee

    I was actually doing OK for the most part without a wetsuit but thought that something that kept my core warmer would be helpful (and less sun burned)

    A thought

    It was very strange to go up to White Rock Canada this summer and go swimming

    I'm Nor Cal / Bay Area born and raised so the idea of....warm ocean water? was a little weird!

    Yes, a good wet suit can be quite invaluable for keeping your core warm. I used to do a bit of diving, and even a shorty like what you purchased did wonders for comfort. Hope you and your family enjoy your time at the beach.
