Shrink a kilt

I think you could shrink it... BUT you'll ruin your kilt for sure!

The best way would be to take it to the kilt maker.

It will almost certainly not shrink evenly. If you want it smaller, then have it altered by a tailor.

My kilts tend to shrink in the closet... =)

I usually wash my kilts with as little movement as possible (just let them soak), but two of my kilts I have washed quite vigorously in the hope of getting them to fit better -- and it worked.

I don't think steam alone would shrink anything.

Have to admit, I am cringing a bit at the thought of doing that to a kilt, maybe it would work? I don't know - but I won't be trying it soon....

Why would you want to shrink a kilt? Is it too large. You can move the straps to make it fit more tightly and if you want it shorter you can pull it up, but that's about all short of a major rework.

Yes, you could do this if you need to shrink it for an inch or 2.

That seems to be how most of my clothes shrink.
