Macallan single malt

Anyone acquainted with "The Macallan" Whisky? I got an invitation to go to a event they are putting on. I'm not much of a scotch snob, and I've never heard of them, but I thought I'd check it out.

The 18 yr old version is one of my all time favorites, certainly my favorite Speyside to date.

I had a bottle of the 10 YO with me at the recent Williamsburg Scottish Festival. I have been told its the most requsted at the Fredericksburg Pub. I enjoy it although my tastes though lean towards the Islay malts.

It's a pretty good single malt, especially the 18 yr old. I prefer those that are peatier, by there really is no bad single malt (if it's aged).

BTW, I've never seen a 10 yr old Macallan. 12 is the youngest I've seen.

By all means, go. You'll have a terrific time.

Well alright you have never heard of Macallan, some people have never heard of Ferrari cars, or Rigby rifles, or Boeing aircraft and Macallan is one of those types of names. To my taste there are better whiskies around, however there are many who consider Macallan whisky to be the "top of the tree".

A comfortable chair, Mahler on the hi-fi, a glass of the 25 yr old Macallan and wee bowl of poppycock is the closest to nirvana you'll likely find on the green side of the grass.

I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes. Macallan has to much of a floral taste for me, but I wouldn't turn it down! Every chance to drink scotch is a chance to increase your knowledge.

Macallan, or "Thr Macallan" as the bottled call it, is one of the bigger name scotch whiskies, on par with Glenlivet, Glenfiddich and others from a corporate size and international reputation. They put out some very popular varieties, and the older they are the better they tend to be. Not to my tastes, personally, but they are well known and respected. You should definitely o, and enjoy yourself. Let us know which types you like best, since a newb is more likely to have tastes like mine.
